Our Story
Backcountry Barkery Co. started with a simple idea and a lot of persistence.
After spending four years convincing his family that they needed a dog, Angus finally welcomed Pippa into the house. From that moment on, his love for dogs only grew stronger. He quickly realized that dogs aren’t just pets—they’re part of the family.
Not long after, Angus started thinking about ways he could turn that love into something more. He wanted to create something of his own, learn how to run a business, and make treats that dogs would genuinely enjoy.
With a little help at home, Backcountry Barkery Co. was born.
What started as baking simple treats for Pippa quickly turned into something bigger—sharing those treats with neighbors and their dogs across the BackCountry community.
Today, every batch is still made with the same idea in mind:
simple ingredients, happy dogs, and something created with care.
The Team
Meet Angus
Angus is the brains and brawn behind Backcountry Barkery Co.
For four years (starting all the way back in kindergarten!), Angus worked tirelessly developing and presenting detailed “business cases” to his family on why they absolutely needed a dog. After years of persistence, he finally got his wish—and Pippa joined the family.
Pippa quickly became both a calming and energizing presence in the house, and Angus’s love for dogs only grew from there.
Backcountry Barkery Co. is a natural extension of that passion—combining his determination, creativity, and love for dogs into something he can share with the community.
Meet Pippa
Pippa is a 3-year-old Goldendoodle, a true lady of the house and the inspiration behind this venture.
As the official taste tester and brand ambassador of Backcountry Barkery Co., she takes her role very seriously - sampling treats, offering enthusiastic approval, and keeping a close eye on quality control.
Since joining the family, Pippa has brought a perfect mix of calm, energy, and plenty of personality. She’s the inspiration behind everything we bake and the reason we’re so passionate about creating treats dogs genuinely love.
