Our Story
Backcountry Barkery Co. started with a simple idea and a lot of persistence.
After spending four years convincing their family that they needed a dog, Angus and Hugo finally welcomed Pippa into the house. From that moment on, their love for dogs only grew stronger. They quickly realized that dogs aren’t just pets, they’re part of the family.
Not long after, they both started thinking about ways they could turn that love into something more. The both wanted to create something of their own, learn how to run a business, and make treats that dogs would genuinely enjoy.
With a little help at home, Backcountry Barkery Co. was born.
What started as baking simple treats for Pippa quickly turned into something bigger—sharing those treats with neighbors and their dogs across the BackCountry community.
Today, every batch is still made with the same idea in mind:
simple ingredients, happy dogs, and something created with care.
The Team
Meet Angus
Angus is the brains behind Backcountry Barkery Co.
For four years (starting all the way back in kindergarten!), Angus worked tirelessly developing and presenting detailed “business cases” to his family on why they absolutely needed a dog. After years of persistence, he finally got his wish—and Pippa joined the family.
Pippa quickly became both a calming and energizing presence in the house, and Angus’s love for dogs only grew from there.
Backcountry Barkery Co. is a natural extension of that passion—combining his determination, creativity, and love for dogs into something he can share with the community.
Meet Hugo
Hugo is the brawn and the hustle behind Backcountry Barkery Co.
From the moment Pippa joined the family three years ago, Hugo was completely smitten. He quickly became her go-to for playtime, walks, and anything involving treats.
Hugo has always had a natural love for dogs and thrives on being hands-on. Whether he’s out dog walking around the neighborhood, helping care for pets, or making sure every batch of treats is just right, he brings energy, dedication, and a strong work ethic to everything he does.
Backcountry Barkery Co. is the perfect outlet for Hugo’s drive, combining his love for dogs with his willingness to roll up his sleeves and make things happen.
Meet Pippa
Pippa is a 3-year-old Goldendoodle, a true lady of the house and the inspiration behind this venture.
As the official taste tester and brand ambassador of Backcountry Barkery Co., she takes her role very seriously - sampling treats, offering enthusiastic approval, and keeping a close eye on quality control.
Since joining the family, Pippa has brought a perfect mix of calm, energy, and plenty of personality. She’s the inspiration behind everything we bake and the reason we’re so passionate about creating treats dogs genuinely love.
